| Course | In the special stage, the teams have to pass a defined course while maintaining a given average speed. Within this course there are two sub-sections. In each sub-section there is a different specified average speed. The length of the whole course, as well as the length of the sub-sections, is not mentioned in the road book. Each team can use a watch for this special stage, but no GPS-device. On the whole course there are several hidden checkpoints. The time when the team passes the checkpoint will be recorded. The special stage takes place on public roads. Possible obstacles have to be taken into consideration. The U.S. Road Traffic Act is valid at any time. The specified average speed has to be kept during the whole special stage. Stopping for the purpose of waiting is strictly forbidden during the whole special stage. Doing this will be cause for disqualification. |
