Meet the Frog Queen The town of Rayne calls itself The Frog Capital of the World, a distinction it earned in the late 1800s when it was a mighty exporter of frog legs. And on Labor Day weekend, Rayne celebrates this legacy with its annual Frog Festival. Of course, no festival is complete (or properly promoted) without a queen, so seventeen-year-old Brooke Henry, this year's honoree, hits the road every weekend, hopping from fair to fair with other dignitaries (her traveling buddy is the Oil & Gas Queen of Evangeline), extolling the merits of her town and the amphibian that keeps it famous. "Come on over to Rayne," she says, "the city full of bull, where catching frogs is just the way we find our princes."
