New Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Track Tire Earns its ‘Rings’
LAS VEGAS — Dunlop's newest “halo tire for enthusiasts” is set to earn its “rings” at the track.
The new Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 extreme performance summer tire is “for hard-core driving enthusiasts and car-club members on the track. The tire helps deliver superb dry traction and handling in autocross and for car-club track days,” according to Janice Consolacion, Dunlop manager of marketing, “and its grip is heavenly.
“Extreme sports performance is very specialized, focused — and growing,” Consolacion said. “Automotive enthusiasts will immediately experience the tire's grip; its Asian influence and reputation for dry traction precede its introduction here.
Also used in professional drifting, the Direzza Sport Z1 offers consistent cornering, braking and acceleration during performance driving maneuvers at the track, she said.
The Direzza Sport Z1 high-response directional tread pattern with circumferential grooves helps create a consistent contact patch on the pavement for a smoother feel and seamless transition. A wide profile also helps provide a consistent footprint shape and uniform pressure distribution across the footprint for enhanced cornering, she said.
The tire also features JointLess Band technology to help enable smooth performance at highway speeds, she said.
Direzza Sport Z1, available in 20 sizes with rim diameters from 15 to 18 inches, joins the Direzza DZ101 ultra-performance tire for sport compacts in the brand's North America tire lineup.
