California Salesman Wins Kat Von D Ink
AKRON, Ohio, Feb. 19, 2008 - Registering for a free tattoo at Dunlop's SEMA Show booth won California salesman Steve Hoevel this tattoo of two koi fish with tails featuring Dunlop tire treads.
Steve Hoevel's very first tattoo was inked by celebrity artist Kat Von D, thanks to Dunlop Tires.
The West Hills, Calif., salesman said getting the left shoulder decoration was “a once-in-a-lifetime experience. It's something that I always wanted to do, but never found a right time for it.”
Of course, you don't win a Kat Von D tattoo everyday. Hoevel, 37, registered at Dunlop's SEMA Show booth to win a free tattoo at Miss Von D's West Hollywood tattoo shop. He even had the opportunity to design the two koi fish “that face each other in ying-yang style.”
Fittingly, the fish tails feature Dunlop tire treads.
Hoevel compared the tattoo to the recent movie, Bucket List. “It's one of the 100 things I wanted to do before I kicked the bucket.”
Despite the excitement of wearing a Kat Von D on his shoulder, however, a second tattoo isn't part of the list.
“Kat was down to earth. She really cared why I was getting a tattoo. She's a great person.
“And,” he concluded, “thanks to Dunlop for this dream come true.”
