Over a 10-day period, more than 90 journalists, and 40 Dealers from Japan and various European countries met on the Spanish racetrack for a formal introduction, in six different languages, of the Dunlop Sportmax Qualifier.
During each two-day session, the Dunlop guests spent a full day on the track participating in riding sessions on 40 different bikes from various manufacturers. The group also spent half a day testing the new tire on roads through a national park.
According to José D' Alessandro, director motorcycle tires for Dunlop Europe, Middle East and Africa, the Qualifier promises to preserve as much race tire performance as possible, while meeting the stability, durability and wet-weather performance levels required for the next generation of exciting bikes.
“So far, we have received great feedback from the guests,” he said. “They have exclaimed that the tire lives up to its promises.”
Dunlop engineers brought to bear all of Dunlop's latest tire innovations, including new rubber compounds, new constructions, new tread patterns and new profiles, using the latest technology in development of the new tire.
“We used FEA (finite element analysis) to determine the optimum profiles and required compound properties,” said D' Alessandro. “The Qualifier is engineered to totally satisfy the needs of the modern supersport and superbike road rider and to match the performance of the current generation of machines.”
