What is podcasting?
Podcasting is an audio or video file, typically a MP3 or MPEG, available on the Internet for downloading via an automatic
feed. Similar to a radio or T.V. program, it consists of a long-form audio track or video feed that contains extended amounts of dialogue,
music or other interests. You can play the podcast whenever you want from your computer or compatible portable media
player.
What do I need to play podcasts?
The first thing you need is podcast subscription software. Options include the latest version of Apple’s iTunes
(which has the software built in), or other services such as Odeo or iPodder. At this point, you will already be able
to play to the podcast from your computer. If
you want to take a podcast with you, you will need to transfer it from your computer to a compatible portable media device.
How do I subscribe to a podcast?
Click on the name of the podcast you would like to access and read the subscription instructions. If given a choice of
where to download the podcast, you can select your desktop or perhaps a file folder where you store media files.
Future podcasts will download to the same place automatically. Clicking the icon will launch the podcast.
