Dunlop promotes RunOnFlat with MINI lovers
At the MINI United festival, Dunlop offered consumers and journalists an opportunity to experience a slalom course with a simulated tire blow out while driving on RunOnFlat technology. Meanwhile, racers ran on Dunlop Sport Maxx tires in a three-day championship competition.
Dunlop took advantage of a three-day festival for BMW’s MINI car enthusiasts in Misano, Italy, to demonstrate the ability of the company's latest ultra-modern RunOnFlat Technology.
As a promoting partner of the first annual MINI United event and an original equipment provider,
Dunlop Germany offered 200 journalists and 6,000 visitors from more than 40 countries an
opportunity to experience the superior performance of RunOnFlat first hand by driving through a
Dunlop slalom course with a simulated tire blow out on the left front side. More than 20 percent of
event attendees took a turn at the wheel.
According to Dunlop Europe’s Brand Director Paolo Figini, participants’ reactions were, unlike
their different languages, unanimous.
"’Amazing – fantastico – extraordinaire’ were the voices heard after the participants had safely
woven in and out of the slalom course thanks to the excellent performance of the RunOnFlat tires in
an emergency situation," he said.
Information on Dunlop’s MINI driver-training course and brochures explaining the benefits of
RunOnFlat – the ability to keep a car running on the tire's reinforced sidewalls for up to 80 km
(50 miles) after a puncture, blow out or complete air pressure loss – were distributed.
Another chance for Dunlop to shine at the event was the three-day, on-track highlight of MINI
CHALLENGE World Finals featuring 19 drivers from 10 countries all running on Dunlop Sport Maxx
treads for the championship.
In addition to two races on the 3,488 km long "Circuito Internazionale Santamonica," two slalom
trials, two karting races as well as a quad competition that showcased the handling skills of the
cars and their drivers were featured.
More than 4,600 MINI drivers with 2,000 MINI classics and more recent models attended the event.
Goodyear branded tires are also provided as OE fitments for European MINIs. |
